چکیده

In this paper, we propose a new biometric system based on the neurophysiological features of facespecific visual self representation in a human brain, which can be measured by ElectroEncephaloGraphy (EEG). First, we devise a novel stimulus presentation paradigm, using self-face and non-self-face images as stimuli for a person authentication system that can validate a person’s identity by comparing the observed trait with those stored in the database (one-to-one matching). Unlike previous methods that considered the brain activities of the resting state, motor imagery, or visual evoked potentials, there are evidences that the proposed paradigm generates unique subject-specific brain-wave patterns in response to selfand non-self-face images from psychology and neurophysiology studies. Second, we devise a method for adaptive selection of EEG channels and time intervals for each subject in a discriminative manner. This makes the system immune to forgery since the selected EEG channels and time intervals for a client may not be consistent with those of imposters in terms of the latency and amplitude of the brain-waves. Based on our experimental results and analysis, it is believed that the proposed person authentication system can be considered as a new biometric authentication system. & 2012 Elsevier Ltd. An EEG-Based Person Authentication System with Open-Set Capability Combining Eye Blinking Signals

The electroencephalogram (EEG) signal represents a subject's specific brain activity patterns and is considered as an ideal biometric given its superior forgery prevention. However, the accuracy and stability of the current EEG-based person authentication systems are still unsatisfactory in practical application. In this paper, a multi-task EEG-based person authentication system combining eye b...

Facial Expression and Visual Speech based Person Authentication

Most of the person authentication system lacks perfection due to face poses and illumination variation. One more problem in person authentication is the selection of source for feature generation. In this work, videos have been recorded with variations in poses. The videos have been taken in normal office lighting condition. Videos of persons are taken in three situations. First when faces are ...

Short-latency category specific neural responses to human faces in macaque inferotemporal cortex

In this article I would present evidence to show that timing of the flow of neural signals within the ventral visual stream is a crucial part of the neural code for categorization of faces. We recorded the activity of 554 inferotemporal neurons from two macaque monkeys performing a fixation task. More than 1000 object images including human and non-primate animal faces were presented up to 10 t...

Use of Vertical Face Profiles for Text Dependent Audio-Visual Biometric Person Authentication

In this paper, a technique is proposed for text dependent audio-visual biometric person authentication using Dynamic Time Warping (DTW). A combination of features derived from video and audio is used as a representation of the utterance. The use of mid-face vertical intensity profiles as a representation of facial movements associated with the utterance is proposed. The time varying profiles ar...
